Weekly Announcements 2/13/2014

Hello all,

No, we don't have a date/time for Lane's memorial service. We will let you know as soon as we do!

This Sunday: Parson Linda, now our official Priest in Charge, will be leading the service. We're doing the Folk Mass. Choir will practice after Coffee Hour. The Bishop's Committee will need to meet for 5 or 10 minutes, just to sign off on some paperwork.

This being the third Sunday, there will be a service in Magdalena at 4 p.m. Parson Linda will officiate.

College Supper at Eileen's at 5 p.m.

The next in the Faith and Science Lecture series is this coming Thursday, the 20th, at 7 p.m. This talk is given by Dr. Allen Bassler, and is titled "Intelligently Designed: The Human Body." The lectures are at St. Paul's Methodist Church. There are refreshments, and a chance for discussion afterward.

Last call on the schedule for Feb. through April 6. (If you didn't get an e-mail, you are NOT on duty Sunday!)

Please bring dried pinto beans for the Storehouse in Socorro. We have agreed to be their "bean suppliers" so we need many, many pounds. Pick up a bag or two next time you're at Smiths or Wal-mart.

Pancake Supper is drawing near (March 4)--Jon has printed posters, and Karen K. has a sign up sheet. Rumor has it the Bishop will be with us!

Ash Wednesday is March 5. There will be services with Imposition of Ashes and Eucharist at 12:15 and 5:30. Please plan to come to one of these, and begin your Lenten observance with this service of meditation and introspection.

We are planning several things for Lent--some that are "spiritual" and some that are "fun" and some that are both!

Update on Wes Young: he is responsive, can't talk because of the ventilator but can write notes, and can move all his extremities. Keep praying!
